LYRICS – SHELTER
Can slow the blow
The rushes through my brain
Can you calm the ocean waves
Just like two ships a sailing
Passing in the night
Seconds and inches from each other’s sight
CHORUS
I run from shelter deep in your arms
Please give me shelter don’t do me no harm
My terminal affection awaits to escape
Should I know when to run or just when it’s safe
Your chemical reaction comes to rescue me
Before I sink like a stone tossed in the sea
CHORUS
Shelter…
Tryin’ to do what’s right for all the wrong reasons
We consistently change like nature’s own seasons
Is my intuition, is it up to blame
Are we all that different or just all the same
CHORUS
**************************
Pete Westman was a very intense singer, guitarist and songwriter. I worked with him at the Road Records recording studio in Southern California off and on for many years. We had always talked about taking a vacation together to Asia and going to Thailand. Now I’ve lived in Asia for several years and go to Thailand several times a year. I always think of Pete when I go.
Sadly Pete (PD) passed away on March 8, 2004. I have a fan page for him over on my blog at:

If you like his music please leave a comment here or over there, or both. I know his friends and family would appreciate that.
One of my first recording sessions with Pete, I was doing some editing he requested and concentrating on the mixing board. He was sitting behind me. As I’m working I smell something burning and I start to panic, looking around the studio for smoke. I turn around and while I was editing he had set up this little shrine with a table cloth complete with incense burners. He was burning incense in the studio! I freaked. He was like, “Hey man, I’m just trying to get in my space and get the vibe going.” Years later we would always laugh about that.
We miss you PD!

Greetings from California! I’m bored to death at work so I decided to check out your website on my iphone during lunch break. I really like the knowledge you present here and can’t wait to take a look when I get home. I’m shocked at how quick your blog loaded on my phone .. I’m not even using WIFI, just 3G .. Anyhow, very good site!
Pete was a good friend of mine we met in Junior high school played on the football team we both took up guitar playing around the age of 15. I remember staying at Pete’s parents home in Sierra Madre and listening to Spirt and Quicksilver messenger service until morning and jamming along. The first concert he and I ever attended was the Cream it was amazing. We had some great times the next years to follow then as time passed we both went different ways and many years later when he was living in the high desert and selling real estate we got back in touch talked for hours on the phone he sent me a cd of his latest music. News of his death was unbelievable to me. God bless you Pete, your friend always, Lance
Pete was a good friend of mine from waaay back-Met him when I was 15!-(I am about to turn 60!) We dated and hung out at different stages of our lives-Always had fond feelings both ways. That V-Dub bus-his incredible talents-voice-guitar-etc. Just an incredible person. He would visit his parents and stop by to see mine in Arcadia. I remember visiting him in Topanga Canyon for dinner and to watch one of his shows-so good. All in all I miss that boy-one of my first mad crushes! RIP PD-Amy
