Waters of Babylon – New Faces Vol. 2
LYRICS – WATERS OF BABYLON
I’ve climbed a mountain
But how much further
Could you expect me to go?
I’ve toiled and labored
But it’s no use
Casting seeds upon the stone
How can I sing a new song in a strange land?
I’ve wept by the water’s edge
And hung my harp upon the willows
So if you start to sing the blues again
Don’t look for me to find you
CHORUS
Come down to the waters of Babylon
There I will set you free
Come down to the waters of Babylon
Set you free
(2x)
I’ve crossed the desert
But when I finally found you
You were half way cross the sea
I stretched my arms out
To command the roaring waves
But they did not part for me
How can I sing a new song in a strange land?
I’ve wept by the water’s edge
And hung my harp upon the willows
So if you start to sing the blues again
Don’t look for me to find you
CHORUS
Come down to the waters of Babylon
There I will set you free
Come down to the waters of Babylon
Set you free
(2x)
I’ve reached the shoreline
In a ship broken to pieces
To find this place was not for me
CHORUS

I actually wrote this around 1989 but didn’t get it recorded and released until 1997.

V-E-R-Y pleasurable listening!
I remember at the time I thought it was ok to use the keyboard string parts, but to my ears now I really wish I had used a real string trio.
