LYRICS – DOUBLE DOUBLE DORE YOU

We cabaret’d until the dawn with each other
You listened to my hundred thousand words
Still it stands I never really said what I wanted to
Here are the words that should have reached your ears

If you say that I should go way
I will never see you
But if you say you wanted me to stay
I will never leave

CHORUS
Love you, I love you
I double double dore you

When you’re by me I can see my thoughts lose their meaning
How can I stand on earth and speak of heaven?
Can you see the earth as standing still?
Just waiting for these thoughts behind the silence you’ve been given

If you say that I should go way
I will never see you
But if you say you wanted me to stay
I will never leave

CHORUS
Love you, I love you
I double double dore you

(Instrumental Solo)

If you say that I should go way
I will never see you
But if you say you wanted me to stay
I will never leave

CHORUS
Love you, I love you
I double double dore you

This was my attempt at Euro Pop while still using reel to reel recorders. Samples were mixed live on playback through a Roland W-30 sampler workstation, as well as all the midi tracks.

The German overdubs were done by an exchange student who happened to be in town. My idea for the song was a tourist that fell in love with a German boy in a club while on vacation.

For those that do know German – you’ll notice one of the German lines is actually from Bach’s St. Matthew Passion and has a religious reference. I only used this because I liked the sound of it, not because of the meaning.

One of the benefits of producing a lot of music is you get to incorporate little bits over time that you find interesting. I had always wanted to include that German line of Bach in a song somewhere. Had wanted to do that since I was 16 years old. Just for the heck of it. So there it is.

If I went back now and did this song in Pro Tools I could tear it up.
